Traditional quay constructions do not stand up well to the constant force of push barges and container barges used for bulk materials such as coal and ore. They are easily damaged, resulting in high repair costs and work outages. The ultra-strong concrete of the High Strength Concrete Quay wall now offers a solution.
Volker InfraDesign devised this innovative solution when it was working on a tender for the Port of Rotterdam. The ingenious thought behind the use of a High Strength Concrete Quay wall is how the fender and quay wall are integrated with a thin shell of fibre-reinforced high-strength concrete on the outer face of the quay wall.
